I thought it was awful. The feeling of not being able to catch your breath made me feel panicky. Steady even breathing is important but even then you sometimes feel like you are drowning.
The exhilaration of completing the pass makes you forget the hard bits and the view is amazing. I took so long I had we had to use flash lights at the last bit.
I went over the reverse way from Muktinath the first time but I had already stayed in Muktinath for a week. We left in the dark which was fine as the moon was up. I was also twenty years younger than now. There used to be a hut thing up beyond Muktinath where we got drinks.
