It is hard for us to say about how much forest is cut down as we only did the Jomsom side in 1999 and the Manang side in 2000. This time I am going to Jharkot via Ghandruk to Ghorepani and there supposed to be a lot of forest. Can't compare the other as we only did it once, but there were forests on both sides but it "seems" to me maybe more on the Jomsom side (but old minds tend to forget).
As far as flight from Manang, when we arrived in Humde we put in for a flight and had a two week wait so hung out in Manang and surrounding areas for the two weeks and loved it. But it was a long wait if one needed to get out. Several folks we met chose to walk back out rather than wait.
When you going? I leave USA on Sunday and arrive in Kathmandu on the 31st. We got our ACAP permit last year in Pokhara. It cost us double because the office was closed and someone had to go out to the guys house for us to get it. But it all worked out in one day.
Tom.

: Mouse, where did you get your ACAP permit last time and how long did it take. Can you remember how much forest is left along the stretch of the trek you did? I don't have time for the circuit but I will pick either side for a shorter trek. Much depends on how much has been chopped down. Was is hard to get the flight from Manang?
