It is very easy to exchange US dollars for rupees in Nepal. I've never understood this "get the best rate, the cheapest etc..." when it comes to travelers in Nepal. An american in Nepal is very rich. It is difficult to spend a great deal of many. Things are extremely cheap. Remember when arguing with some one over trying to bring the price of something down 100 rupees you are arguing over a little over a dollar. Every one should lighten up over money in Nepal
