Chris
I don't know if you have a lot of freedom of action on itinary etc on Mustang treks, as I cannot remember what the regulations are as per the permit.

However, I spoke with the following people yesterday.

Sanctuary Trekking & Expeditions (p.) Ltd
E-mail: stetreks@roe.wlink.com.np
They were quoteing $45 per person, plus permit fee per person, plus $300 liason officer per group. They reckon on 4/6 persons best group size for cost, and will start any day of the week and fit in whatever you want, within reason.

Himalaya Expeditions Inc
E-mail: classicnepal@classic-nepal.com
These people have clients such as Chris Bonnington and the like and have a good reputation.
Awaiting prices from them. Again, they will build up whatever itinary that you want. More expensive though.

I intend to follow up with both of the above and perhaps some others. Hope they are of use to you.

Brian

Howdy all. This coming April-May, I'm considering combining
: a trek around the Annapurna circuit with a trip to Mustang.
: It's my understanding that visiting Mustang requires making
: arrangements with a trekking agency for camping with a guide,
: porters, liason officer, $700+ permit, etc. Trouble is that
: the few trekking agencies I've investigated via the web don't
: offer anything resembling my itinerary, plus I'm certain my
: party doesn't require the extent of services provided by these
: group trips (one reliable guide and porter or two would be
: plenty, and really only necessary for the trip from Jomsom to
: Lo Manthang and back). So, my question is whether anyone can
: supply info about avenues for me to pursue (i.e., particular
: agencies or individuals that would be willing to organize a
: private trek to Mustang with a minimum of service). Any comments
: about travel in the region would be welcome though, as well as
: responses from any down-to-earth, relatively awake individuals
: interested in making something approximating this journey
: happen w/myself and a friend (you'd be traveling w/2 28 year
: old American males, one Buddhist one undecided, one psychologist
: one fisherman, one single one engaged, both love the earth and
: both could walk all day).

: Thanks in advance,
:
: Chris.
