: Hey people...

: just wondering...

: where is the best place to get porters from? If
Kathamndu, i will have to pay for the transport
fees wont i?

Yes. We paid our porters bus fare from Kathmandu to
Pokhara (cheap fare); also had no problem getting
him a plane ticket from Jomoson back to Pokhara;
we were told he might have problem with ticket
for him by some Nepalis, but we had no problem
because, I assume, tourist season was just in
the beginning so planes had room. Otherwise we
would have walked back out with him.

: some good places to stay in Kat, Pokhara (preferably
lakeside)and Sauraha. Costs, directions, anything....

We stayed at Kantipur Hotel in Thamel area in
Kathmandu. For double room it was $12. You can find
more expensive or more cheaper. But this was a good
hotel. In Pokhara we had for $10 US dollars a double
at Dharma Inn on Lakeside. Good service and staff,
but again, you can find cheaper. Didn't go to Chitwan,
so can't answer on Sauraha...heard you can get room
for low as $2 a night (this is all US Dollars).

how much per day on the trek?? AU$20?? AU$15??

I paid (not counting porter costs) aveaged about 100
Nepal rupees (68 rupees to the US dollar; not sure
about how much to Australian dollar). Food is not
expensive...rice dinner around 100 to 150 rupees.
If you drink bottled water, sodas or alcohol the
price goes up. But after lodge, food and such you
shouldn't pay over $10 US dollars a day (just depends
on how much you eat or drink).

Above all, and know you will, have fun....Tom.

: PLEASE help!!

: Cheers
