: With all those killings currently going on esp. in that area of Nepal I cant imagine trekkers are that overwhelmed by this new proposition, even though it may admittedly also ease the situation in Dolpo in the wake !
I would not hesitate. The Maoists donīt seem to target tourists and trekkers. Dhailekh is far from Dopho.
Some things really have to change in Nepal, to get economic growth. A lot of people are becoming communists and maoists because democracy did not bring development. A lot of the poverty, for instance in Dolpo and Manthang, is inflicted by the present policies which have been in place since the sixties.

: Gauri Sankar is holy ! r u sure, the Japanese summited. not even were permitted to ?
I donīt think they did summit. It was in the late seventies. They crossed the border to climb from the NE-side, were robbed of everything, and came back with the tail between the legs. I think that is what made the Nepalese close the Rollwaling trail. In the mid-seventies you could do it on an ordinary trekking permit. I was not aware that Gauri Shankar was more holy than other mountains. In spite of its Sanskritic name it is completely in Sherpa country. I am quite certain it has been climbed. There is a list of all climbs somewhere on the web but I am afraid i canīt find it right now.
