Kev,
flying in at KTM mid September, I asked the same question at someone in Nepal who arranged my flight on my trip last year. This is his answer:
------------------------------
The Lukla airport is
currently closed for upgrade work and schedule to remain closed until late
April. At the moment what the airlines is doing is they take passenger to
Lamidada or Phaplu (close airstrip from Lukla) in fixed wing airplane and
from there they have helicopter shuttle service to Lukla immediately or
hour
or so later.. Under this arrangement the cost to get to Lukla is: $140 per
person, for one way ticket and you return from Lukla the same way in
reverse.

By September fixed wing airplane should be in operating to Lukla, if not
then you could goto Lukla and return with above option (via Lamidada or
Phaplu).

Greeting,

Have a nice trip !

: G'day Trekkies
: A group of us are supposedly trekking to Gokyo Lake in October/November. I understand that the airport is closed for repairs and is due to reopen in October. Does anyone have any info regarding a reopening date?
: Regards
