greg-you can rent bags in kathmandu, but i would advise buying one(-5) before you go-no bugs, the correct weight & the correct bag to put it in,some tea houses provide rugs/doonas,but the higher you get the less there will be.get yourself a good pair of leather boots, wear them to death before you go,army surplus stores have great ranges at 30% less then those trendy shops, get some good sox while you are there,we got ours for nothing because we bought boots, pants, sleeping sheets, etc etc.p.s i love my boots there so comfortable.as for water-good plan, some tea house have free filtered water on tap,so you can fill up your bottle.if you are going to carry your own pack(a porter cost $10 US a day, better than lugging your own i reckon) 15 kilos should be your limit.we went last sept and are going back this sept,it was the most amazing exprience i have ever had-have a great time.only 22 weeks to go.about 27 for you !!!!
