Helen -

I don't know how fast you walk and what shape you will be in when you arrive, but some of the itineraries people are putting out here seem very rushed, and don't make much sense to me, and MAY tax your body too much.

Depends what your purpose is on this trek.
I think you won't enjoy so much if you have to rush so much.
Walking in from and out to Jiri will make it extremely rushed, and adding Kala Patar even more so, and you will miss much of the benefit, as the area from Jiri to Phakding is the area where interaction with Nepali people is easist and most rewarding, since they get fewer trekkers.

So I don't have a great answer, but however you do it allow enough time. Otherwise, what's the point?

Best option maybe would be walk in from Jiri and fly out from Syangboche, but flying out from Syangboche is not very possible, I think.
Maybe if you have enough money it is though.
You would cover all the territory, without repeating, and with more time.

Good luck whatever you do.

: Hi,

: We're due to arrive in Kathmandu on 11th April, and flying back to the UK on 5th May. The intention WAS to trek from Jiri to Gokyo Lakes and then fly out from Lukla, although this won't be possible as the airstrip is closed for repairs. We thought about flying in and out from Paphlu, although this would mean missing the Jiri-Paphlu part of the trek which would be a shame. Does anybody know how if I can book flights in and out from Paphlu from the UK? Alternatively, could we walk in from Jiri and then fly out from Syangboche - is this possible?

: I'd be SOOO grateful if anyone could help out on this one!!
