Brett,

Good and bad news I think. Yes there is an airstrip at Hongde just before Manang. However the flights are sporadic to say the least and the possibility of arranging to fly out from Hongde in the event of a 'turn around'is subject to many vagaries, not least the weather.

Assuming that a flight out is arranged then the aircraft cannot fly over from the Marshyagdi Valley to the Kali Gandaki without going via either Pokhara or Kathmandu. Therefore the best route would be to Pokhara and then another, separate flight to Jomosom in the KG.

So - although your logic is sound I wouldn't hang my plans on the possibility. I hope this helps. Feel free to email me if you are really dtermined that this will be an option as I have some good contacts in Nepal to whom the word 'impossible' does not appear in their vocabulary!

Hope this helps Brett.

Regards.

Carl (UK)
