:You can trek alone. I have done three treks this season, one on my own. Possibly at this time of the year one should keep to the popular treks and consider a guide for support/emergency.
At the moment there are not a lot of trekkers about, or tourists in general for that matter. The situation in Nepal is not particularly stable at this time and one should be aware that in the last 3 weeks there have been a number of strikes and also rioting in Nepal. At times the atmosphere has been been very tense and unpleasant. It is felt by some Nepalis I have spoken too that the situation could deteriorate at any time and without warning.
