It varies from year to year, nepalese tend to regard the lunar month Gunla as the peak monsoon month. It tends to fall in August.

The problem with the monsoon for trekking is not really clouds and poor views. When you are trekking close to the high mountains there are plenty of good views. And, it is better to hike in the shade of clouds than in burning sunshine.

The problem is that every monsoon there are some days of persistent torrential rain, that turns even the tiniest tributaries into raging torrents, causing flashfloods and land slides. In these situations it may be necessary to stay put for a couple of days in a safe place that cant be hit by a landslide or a flashflood.

In my experience it starts to clear up in early September.
