NOT in Kathmandu!

Hi Everyone (sorry I've posted this twice)
I'm NOT in Kathmandu at the moment, which is the first time at this time of year for many a year since I married my Nepali wife 35 years ago! I have trekked in almost every region, summited many 6000m+ peaks, led treks and climbs for charity (Uk and Nepali) and recently helped to fund a health camp in Humla. BUT it will be a while before I go back. Handing $20 or so over to a group of robbers is easy and a complete copout of the reality over there. Sure, we Westerners can all afford it, but do you realise where this money is going and what it is funding? How many bullets did your emergency trekking money buy? How would a Brit have felt about an American tourist handing donations over to the IRA 20 years ago? How would an American feel about a British tourist handing money over to an Al Qaeda collector? How do you think my Nepali family feel about you handing money over to these murdering bastards?
Get real, don't go!
