I'm from Seattle, and I've found it cheaper to buy a roundtrip ticket to Bangkok and then find a flight in Bangkok, round trip to Kathmandu, paying in baht. Last fall, Bangkok -Kathmandu was $360 USD equilivant RT on Royal Nepal, ~ $500 - 550 on Thai Air.
