I went in Oct 2003. There were teahouses that served the Nepali/ Tibetan traders bringing Chinese coke and beer over into the area. No tea houses of any sort at the base camp for crossing Larkya la (just a yak shelter) and at the other side not even that. I have heard that tea houses were springing up. You would need a guide as no English is spoken out there. Lots of fabulous side trips. We went into Tibet in a long day trip. WE were about 19 days but 22-24 would be awesome too much country to explore. Very interesting people. Get a recommendation on a guide for here or trekinfo.
: : Considering this trek March 07. Any information concerning this trek much appreciated, in particular
: : - permit costs
: : - need for guide
: : - duration
: : - tea-housable?
: : My thanks in advance
: Probably not a huge help but there is a reasonable description of the circuit at ht*p://project-himalaya.com/trek-manaslu.html only helps for the duration question really though. I believe that the actual "manaslu" portion is camping only.
: I know that Sharon has done this trek, maybe she'll pop in soon and be able to answer your other questions.
