Langtang 05 was no maoist problem. The maoists on the jiri walk in were asking 5000 rupee - according to several people I met in the Khumbu in Nov/Dec 05 -- however, if you weren't a jerk about it, you could generally talk the jiri maoists down to 2000 or 3000 rupees.
