I've flown four times from the UK. Twice with Qatar Airlines and twice with Gulf Air. The fastest connections are usually Qatar via Doha although I have to say that Doha airport needs some improvement. Qatar's levels of service are very good although Gulf do come a close second. Qatar are the more expensive during peak periods. Depending on flight schedules, flying Gulf Air sometimes means a long lay over in Abu Dhabi before connecting to London. The airline once bussed me into Abu Dhabi and put me up in an hotel for about ten hours. Give Trailfinders a call for the best airfares. Last two times with Gulf Air set me back about £430.00 but I would hazard a guess that costs have risen with the oil price hikes. If you do fly ex LHR, expect an overnight flight to the gulf to connect with the daily flights into Kathmandu.
I do not see why you should not fly out of London, the 'threats' are negligable and you would be giving in to the terrorist if you declined to do so. You could of course fly in from Newcastle to connect.
:
Am based in Newcastle and fancy doing a trek in october with three friends.
: We heard that you can fly from Schipol which would suit us,but I cant seem to find anything on expedia.
: Does anyone know if there is a flight?
: Also saw a flight from Vienna-does anyone know if that is a direct flight?
: We dont wish to go to London because of the threat, and wish to fly from Europe.
