Thats what I was thinking too.
In fact, I did mananage to take an excleent picture, in a cave, of a lama. I was using my Minox, which takes excellent low light pics, and a 100 asa film. The lama protested that the pic would probably not come out, but it was perfect, despite the low light.
I think 100 asa is probably good enough, unless you are taking a lot of pics in Gompas or the paintings.

: OK at the risk of it seeming like a dumb question why use 800 ASA film? One of the biggest problems I found, at altitude, is the brightness and UV. To need 800 ASA means it must be incredibly dark or you are trying to use a long telephoto with a small aperture lens.
: Just interested since I normally take 50 ASA with me for my backup film camera. Although the lens is 35mm f2.8 so its quite fast.
