In colonial rethoric sutee and other practices regarded as unchristian was often used to legimize colonialsm. Spreading the gospel is much more appealing justification than robbing and raping and enriching ourselves. In fact the Communist excuse is somewhat similar. Liberate them and introduce communism, dictatorship of the proletariat.

Tibetans are great people, and had a stunning culture.

Buy it or produce it elsewhere, until the Chinese give the Tibetans their freedom.
