1. I would say about 12-20 USD per day per person will cover your accommodation and meals at resonable to good lodges. It all depends on what you want to eat/drink. You will spend towards the 20 per day if, for example, you want to drink coke and canned beer at Namche and above it is about as expensive as in your home town probably. Local food and tea, hot drinks etc are reasonalby cheap. Obviously you want to take rupees with you meaning 1000-1500 per day. If you trek from Lukla and above you don't need to care much about what denominations you take, as everyone seems to have change. So 500s and 1000s are good. If you trek from Jiri, you might want to have lots of 100s, since some lodges will not have change. I have been there 2 years ago, things might have changed.
I read about scrooges spending 300-500 rupees per day. My philosophy is that I am on a holiday, and don't want to sleep and eat in really crappy places. Still, there is room to save on the budget I gave you...

2. Flights out of Lukla are more abundant these days, so I would not worry too much. You could safely book the flight as you return back to Namche Bazaar (there are offices there for all the airlines like Yeti or RNA or whatever). There you'll be reasonably sure of your arrival in Lukla. Flights are still totally weather dependent of course, as you probably know.

3. If you have only a limited time (e.g.14 or 15 days, I would suggest you rather trek to Gokyo than EBC. Gokyo as a destination, as a place, is far nicer and more interesting than EBC which is just a collection of shody huts and lodges with no nice views or anything. It will only mean you can tell your friends that you went to EBC. Gokyo on the other hand lots of possiblitites for exploration further north, as well as fantastic views, probably only rivalled by the views from Annapurna Base Camp, on the popular treks.
Plus, the trek to Gokyo covers more or less the same ground as the EBC for a good portion, so you can see the likes of Namche, Kumjung, Tengpoche, etc. They only part at Portse (depending the route you choose, of the many available).

Other tips, is have a good sleeping bag for the high altitudes. It will be cold at EBC or Gokyo. Have good sun glasses, and a sun hat, wind breaker jacket, and good boots. Do not stir up the dogs, do not drink yourself silly every night (especially as you move above Namche) and be smile at the locals.

Have a good time in Nepal.

: I and a friend of mine are planning a trek to the EBC in October.

: 1.How much cash should we bring on the trek, considering eating and sleeping in teahouses?

: 2. We are planning to fly out of Lukla, how much in advance should we book the flight? Does anyone have any tips or recommendations?

: Thanks for your help!
