: : Any info on coming into Nepal from Tibet?
: Think it is easier than from Nepal to Tibet, as you have to an ATP (alien travel permit?) or whatever they are called. I heard of people who crossed the ranges just west of Cho Oyu and Gauri Shankar and visited a famous Gompa on the Tibetan side of the border in the upper Bhote Kosi. Apparently, they went to the Nepalese side but did not have a trekking permit so they were told to go back. Part of the problme is that the Rolwalling trek is highly restricted nowadays. It was not in the past. When it was first opened in the early seventies it was not. Just took an ordinary permit.
