After 2 AC&ABC and 3 Jiri-EBC treks I can not comment on Langtang etc, but Khumbu is my favourite. AC is the most popular by numbers and it is culturally more varied than Khumbu, true. In Khumbu you get more inside the mountains and there are more possibilities for small scale adventures, or big scale. Side trips to Thame and Chukkung, Gokyo etc. Many exiting or difficult high passes: Cho La, Zatrwa La, Mingbo La, Amphu Labtsa, Trashi Labtsa. Many trekking peaks starting from the easy Mera to almost impossible Kusum Ganguru.
My dream trek would be a trek to Makalu base camp, then over Barun glacier to Amphu Labtsa, to EBC and then to Gokyo and across to the west, to Trashi Labtsa and on to Rolwaling.
Of course I dream about a Mustang/Dolpo trek, who would not after reading the Snow Leopard 20 years ago... But at least trekking in Khumbu is easy and cheap, either by going alone or with a private guide and porters relying on local teahouses. I see absolutelly no reson to do a "safari" camping trek, that does not add anything, only costs 50 USD more per day!
And if a full service trek is needed it is cheap to arrange in Nepal. We paid 2500 USD for a 4 person 3 week Mera climb (Lukla-Mera-Lukla), only 625/person, in 2000. That is less than half, one third maybe, of the price western agencies ask for a similar service.
