Bartlomiej Winder from Poland mountainbiked around the Annapurna Circuit in April 1999. That's Bartlomiej carrying his MTB with Annapurna III in the background (directly above his back wheel). To the far left you can just see Annapurna II. This is the team at the top of the Thorung La, 5,400 metres. Looking west, you can see behind them the chorten that marks the top, together with its Buddhist prayer flags. The descent was difficult. It was impossible to ride down because of the snow and ice. Bartlomiej 's companion broke his hand and they had to cycle to Jomosom the next day for treatment. The hospital used a Roentgen X-ray machine that looked like it was from before the First World War, but it worked perfectly and the hospital's treatment was excellent. By MTB was a great journey.
