This picture was taken by a US 'Corona' military spy satellite. The detail, particularly of Annapurna I, is outstanding. You can almost see what they are having for breakfast in Manang. The Corona pictures were declassified by US President Bill Clinton in 1995.
In 1968, when these photographs was taken, the region was still inaccessible to trekkers.
