Day 8 Gringer Creek to White Horse Hills |
Two challenging ascents today on the Bibbulmun Track, over Boonering and Kimberling Hills. Between these hills, which are 8 kilometres apart, is a permanent waterhole named Boonerang Spring. The Bibbulmun Track passes many large granite boulders and wandoo forest. |

Left Gringer Creek at 8:15 am and arrived at white Horse Hills at 4:45pm. Long time hey? Did not even sidetrack to see summit of Boonering Hill. What I did however was spend 3 glorious hours at Boonering Spring. I had 2 quick swims, soaked my clothes and sunbaked in just my boxer shorts. I felt like Brendan Fraser a la "George of the Jungle" or "Enchino Man" I felt very refreshed after all that, although the muscles around my thighs are shot to pieces when walking down steep hills. Found an excellent walking stick and hobbled along like and old man! Tempting to double-hut it tomorrow (28 kilometres) but think I'll take my time and smell the roses. This hut is situated in a valley overlooking a natural clearing. Love the peace and serenity. So quiet it's deafening. |

I would like to get in contact with Michael Bradley or anyone else who has done the bibbulmun track. We are arranging a small 4 day walk along it and would like to ask some experienced people some questions - like what food is good to take on the walk? Please feel free to email me at - scott@zirusmedia.zzn.com
