Day 7 Bushstop to Gringer Creek |
The terrain from Nerang to Gringer Creek is relatively flat with the track following a broad creek system in mixed jarrah, marri and wandoo woodland. The crossing of Serpentine River, wildflowers and red-tailed black cockatoos is a feature of today's walk on the Bibbulmun Track. |

I was awake at 4:30am and thought "Big Day, 22 kilometres, why not get ready now?" Took a while to pack and light a fire for the billy, but on the road by 6:45am. Fairly flat today, so don't need many rest stops. Had fun with a pair of boots I found/ "Barefeet Rocks" I wrote in the sand. Back on original track near Nerang by 9am kept pushing on until 1pm when I finally arrived at Gringer Creek. Met the Pooles on a daily jaunt who did the end-to-end in April from Albany to Kalmunda. . Walked about 1.5 kilometres down a spur trail to the North Bannister roadhouse for some supplies plus cheese-burger, Coke, carrot cake, chocolate and lollies (yum). Rang Mum and she was pleased with my progress. Fire, harmonica, stars, copious amounts of tea, and then ZZZZ. A red-breasted robin liked my harmonica playing. |
