Day 55 West Cape Howe to Torbay |
More coastal walking today in an area popular for rock climbing. Panoramic views from the Bruce Tarbotton Memorial Walk (10.1 kilometres), then a boot cleaning station at 12.2 kilometres. Shelley Beach and Dingo Beach are the only spots you can swim today due to steep cliffs. Torbay Campsite has a lookout about 50 kilometres south of the hut. |

![]() This morning I had no appetite and eventually threw up. Was a hard day's walk with hilly sections and no shade. To make matters worse, I ran out of water with 6 kilometres left to go. I felt very weak and had numerous rest breaks. Lovely coastal walk however, many kangaroos. I arrived at Torbay at 3pm after 8 hours. I passed out until 9:30 pm having the deepest sleep ever. Managed to hold down some cereal then went back to bed. My hardest day by far but I have been fortunate with my health. Torbay is a very picturesque campsite with great views of Richards Island and the coast around towards Albany. Blue sky morning, I'm feeling better, Albany or bust. ![]() ![]() |
