Day 42 Dog Pool to Mount Chance |
No fires allowed from here to Albany. Nice easy walk in spite of the distance. Reedy swamps and prolific wildflowers add character to the rugged Pingerup Plains. Mixture of jarrah and karri trees at various places. Be sure to climb to the top of Mount chance for the inspirational views. |

![]() Rained steadily overnight, cold morning meant I was not in a rush to get moving. Left eventually after 9am, fairly boring walk, the first 10 kilometres. Swampy plains after that were spectacular, really feels like wilderness country! Did the 20 kilometres in good time arriving at 1:30pm. There's a huge granite hill at Mount Chance, which offers amazing 360 degree panoramic views. I climbed it 4 times to take photographs, kill time and play the harmonica. It's very windy up top, and a taste perhaps of how cold the Southern Ocean breeze might be! Anneke has a sore hip problem that may cause them to exit towards the highway for a lift into Walpole. Let's hope it's better in the morning. No fires means evening entertainment consist of reading and writing. Not much food and left toothbrush and paste back in Northbrooke So my teeth have that furry feeling. |
