Day 38 Schaffer to Northcliffe |
Quiet rural roads are a feature of today, with expansive views of attractive farmland. At 10.2 kilometres, Gardner River you will find lined with karri and marri trees, with a sturdy footbridge to cross. Northcliffe is a small town rich in history. |

Wrote another poem in the hut book (Life Goes On), so didn't leave until 8:30 am. Nice walk today, flat with quaint farm views. Was shocked to arrive in Northcliffe by 11:30am. 14 kilometres in 3 hours is a record by far. Booked in at the local pub, $25 per night. Did some washing, shopping and ate Tim Tams (yumo). Simon the cyclist is staying also and shared a delicious meal with him and Hermon and Anneka. I'm bonding to the Dutch couple who I now call Mum and Dad. They are both in their late 50s, and always wear immaculate identical clothing. I reckon they must have an iron in their packs somewhere. I went for a long walk around town under the stars. In 3 weeks my pilgrimage will be over. Albany all of a sudden seems not too far away. Pub is noisy, hope I sleep OK. |
