Day 28 Gregory Brook to Donnelly River |
Small elevation from Gregory Brook, then mainly level terrain after the Brockman highway crossing. The forest transition from jarrah and yarri trees to karri forest is evident in this section. Remains of the old logging rail formations and Willow Springs Mill site add a bit of history and interest along the way, Donnelly River itself being a timber mill town up until 1978. |

![]() Last to leave again at 9:20 am. Tent was damp and covered in red dust (yuk). Caught up with the scouts after half an hour, but had to walk down road for 1 kilometre detour to say goodbye to Claire and Jess. Love these girls, will miss them. Walked back up road to scouts who were gathered together, and walked with them until the 10 kilometre mark. Enjoyed a nice chat with Charlie Griffin who is a good swimmer I'm led to believe. Had a dip in a spring after leaving the scouts and wrote some encouraging words for them in the gravel. Tall karri trees are starting to become a feature, which is nice. Donelly River is another quaint village, which seems overrun by kangaroos and emus. Met Joe (Pemby - Collie) and had a nice chat with him. He is staying for free in a shelter near the school. ![]() ![]() |
