Day 27 Blackwood to Gregory Brook |
The first kilometre of today's section of the Bibbulmun Track is a challenging descent down "Cardiac Hill". The track follows the Blackwood River Valley with a few bridges and creek crossings. Hilly terrain near the Millstream Dam. The forest is more dense and damp, with plenty of soap bush, snotty gobbles, tassel brush and tree hovea. |

![]() Set off late again at 9:20am down the steep slippery descent of Cardiac Hill. Took 5 kilometres to pass the girls. Bumped into Keith Newby (Busselton caravan man), and then a dozen Forestfield scouts. Warm day, lovely wildflowers, river and dense undergrowth. Arrived at campsite at 2:15pm followed by the girls at 3:20pm, then scouts after 4pm. Lovely spot just a stone's throw from a brook, decided to pitch tent for only my second night so far. Doing match puzzles with scouts and losing. Sat around campfire chatting until late 9:30pm when the scout leaders bring out the red cordial - port! Cold night with no cloud cover, must remember Jessica's brain-teaser regarding smashed telephone box and fish in a bucket. Last day tomorrow with northern guidebook. Nearly halfway to Albany! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
