Leave Thugla

The path

The YetiZone yak, Zow, cheered up no end once she realised that we were finally going down, and weren't planning to drag her to the summit of Everest...

Return the way you came, remembering to stop from time to time to admire the view before you leave.

That view one last time

Rest for a while after your ascent of Kala Pattar, and, if you feel strong enough, begin the descent from Gorak Shep. Remember, your strength will increase as you descend and you should consider this if you are thinking of staying in Gorak Shep another night.

Return the way you came, reaching Lobuche after about 1 hour 30 minutes. Be aware of the poor water quality in Lobuche. An Italian research station upstream o Lobuche dumps its sewage in the river used for drinking water. Reach the memorial area at 2 hours. As you walk, look around - as this will be your last chance to see this great view, at least on this trip.

Lobuche Village - don't drink water here

Reach Dugla after 2 hours and 30 minutes, and continue down the valley to reach Pheriche after 3 hours and 30 minutes.

It was a great trek. Little headache when arrive Lobuche but no problem. went to Kalapatthar easily and back to Kathmandu.
Was possible by the help of guide Man Bahadur Sunuwar and his working company Adventure Garden Nepal www.agnepal.com These guys, porter and guide are great, tough and kind. They know what to do and what not to do in the mountains.
Thanks to all Nepali people for their smily face which help me to enjoy so much in Nepal.
Will go again soon.

Try doing this trek in January in the worst weather they have had for 10 years, and in 2 days less than it should take!! I had to smile at your timings, it took nearly 6 hours to get from Gorak Shep to Base Camp and back. All I can say is I made it and it felt great.
